Awards

There are 3 different award categories. One award from each category will be awarded annually. Awards will be presented at the National Conference.

Excellence in Technical Operations Award

Description

This award is to recognize an individual, work group or unit for outstanding professional achievement who distinguish themselves through excellence while performing duties involving technical operations and/or investigations, technical support of tactical operations and/or forensics.

To be eligible for consideration the nominee must exhibit at least one of the following

  • Demonstration of remarkable skills, initiative, service, contribution and/or creative ability while performing in a technical operations, tactical operations and/ or forensics assignment that resulted in significant benefit to the nominee’s organization.
  • Exceptional performance of duties resulting in significant law enforcement achievements, significant case operations, apprehension, or detention of individuals suspected of criminal offenses.
  • Exemplary performance of duties over a sustained period of time in such an outstanding manner as to set a noteworthy record of achievement that inspires others to attain equally high standards.

Meritorious Service Award

Description

This award is to recognize an individual member of the association whose performance in a single incident or project, under unusual, complicated or hazardous conditions, was admirable and commendable.

To be eligible for consideration the nominee must exhibit at least one of the following

  • Meritorious actions taken during an emergency or in response to an unforeseen urgent situation.
  • Provided subject matter expertise, technical skills and/or equipment capabilities during a major case and/or incident that directly assisted in providing a successful resolution.

Excellence in Management Award

Description

This award is to recognize managers and/or supervisors who excel in their supervisory responsibilities by exemplifying initiative, excellence and support in the implementation and the administration of a work group, unit or organization focusing on technical operations and/or investigations, technical support of tactical operations and forensics.

To be eligible for consideration the nominee must exhibit at least one of the following

  • Significant and noteworthy achievements and/or improvements to technical investigations or operational capabilities, equipment and systems as a result of creative and innovative initiatives.
  • Exceptional supervisory and/or organizational skills in the achievement of a major project, investigation or objective involving technical operations that was extremely complex, and/or of great impact to an organization or community, and/ or a successful resolution during a time of emergency or crises.
  • Exemplary ability to overcome organizational difficulties and/or shortages in manpower, funding and resources by promoting and implementing technical operations measures to achieve objectives and increase efficiency, effectiveness and desired outcomes.

Who is Eligible for the Awards Program?

All active members of the association, who are in good standing, are eligible to participate in the awards program.  One exception: to this is that supervisors, managers, groups or units do not necessarily need to all be active members, but an active member must be a supervisor of or in the group receiving the award.

Application Process

Nominations shall be submitted electronically to the award committee at awards@natia.imcsaratoga.com

Nomination forms will be fully completed and include a detailed description as to why the nominee (individual, work group or unit) qualifies for the award. The nominator will also identify two additional references that have knowledge of the information being submitted. The time period for consideration is based on the calendar year encompassing January 1st through December 31st. The submission period for nominations for the respective calendar year will be February 1st through January 15th of the following year.

The application must be received no later than January 15 (of the following year) and sent by email to awards@natia.imcsaratoga.com

Selection Process

The Board of Directors will vote on a winner in each category at a Board of Directors Meeting. The award winners will be announced at the National Conference. Winners need not be in attendance.
