NATIA’s Signature Hands-On “Bucket Truck” Training
NATIA’s Training Program invites Members to attend a Specialized Certification training on the proper safety-related work practices and procedures for performing Technical Installations in a High Voltage Environment. This intensive course combines lecture, discussions, demonstrations, hands-on training, and practical experience to prepare investigators to safely operate in environments involving energized electrical infrastructure.
Participants gain a strong understanding of electrical safety practices, utility infrastructure, and the procedures required to deploy covert surveillance equipment in locations where electrical hazards may be present.

Training Tracks
Installer / Technician Course
This four-day, 35+ hour course covers the standards and techniques required to safely attach covert video devices to various types of utility poles and in different locations on those poles.
Participants learn through classroom instruction and extensive hands-on practical training designed to simulate real-world operations.
Important Safety Requirement
Due to equipment requirements, there is a maximum student weight of 280 lbs. This requirement cannot be waived.
Supervisor / Manager Course
Supervisors may attend two days of the same training workshop to gain the knowledge necessary to ensure that qualified employees are using the practices required by the Code of Federal Regulations and OSHA standards.
This course is designed for oversight and certification purposes and does not qualify participants to perform technical installations in a high voltage environment.
Hands-On Training Experience
Students complete pre-course online training, followed by classroom instruction and hands-on practical exercises that culminate in live electrical installations.
Installation Course participants who successfully complete both the written and practical examinations receive a certificate of training.
Participants also return to their agencies with equipment that can be used during future operations, including:

- Gloves

Two courses are offered at this September 2026 session in Tacoma, Washington:

Two-Day Supervisors Course - This two day workshop will give supervisors the skills necessary to ensure that Qualified Employees are using the proper safety-related work practices required by the Code of Federal Regulation 29CFR1910.269.
Students must register themselves for this event. Personal details and acknowledgement/agreement to the event deadlines (listed in the event flyer) are required for registration. Please have prepared:
- Weight - In Pounds - **Student weight may not exceed the 280 lb maximum
- Shirt Size - Mens Sizes Medium - XXX Large (No female-specific sizing available; Manufacturer has discontinued Men's Size Small)
- Pants Size - Waist x Length In Inches (Even sizes only - If you are in-between, go longer)
